3D artists takes a very close look on the details on the texture, lighting, human anatomy and perhaps emotions so to achieve realism in these astonishing 3D still images.

Creating and rendering of the realistic 3D human face or portraits is still one of the most complicated yet gratifying of all digital and visual art. Some of these 3-dimensional portraits look stunningly real and one would think of it as a real photo of a human’s face without a closer look. Compared to 2D digital illustrations, 3D graphics is a different approach of visual arts and animation which takes a lot of time, patience and dedication so to achieve these complexities and realism in these pictures. These real-looking 3D faces are achieved with the use or combinations of 3D rendering, or even raster and vector editing software like Maya, Lightwave 3D, Mental Ray, Photoshop, ZBrush, 3DStudio Max, Silo, XSI, VRay, etc. Some of these 3D portraits are based on famous celebrities and personalities or used them as a reference. Some of these famous people in this gallery are Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman, Ingrid Bergman, John Locke, Song Hye Kyo and many others. Though these are 3D still images, the complexity, the emotion and the overall visual elements used made them some of the most realistic-looking human face and portraits.
