Cyborgs or cybernetic organisms have been well-known in many futuristic science fiction literature and other visual media and entertainment like in digital and graphic arts, video games, movies, anime , manga, 3D animations and many more.

Cyborgs are always described to have enhanced physical and even mental attributes. The concept of cyborgs is very popular in the science fiction genre – some of these are that of movies like Star wars, Terminator, Robocop and many others. It is also very popular to well-known japanese manga and anime because of their culture – Dragonball, Full metal alchemist, Eureka 7, Ghost in the shell to name a few. Many of the digital artworks here resemble a human body and may act like humans do. They can be likened to Androids which are robots or synthetic organisms taking the form of humans. The word Android is used and widely accepted for both male and female forms, though the feminine form can be referred to as Gynoids. Though many of the graphic artworks shown here to be of android form, many other living organisms can be a subject to sci-fi cyborg stories like animals, aliens or even many types of flora.

Though they have been a subject to scince fiction, cyborgs are now becoming a reality thru the advancements of science and technology and in fields of medicine, engineering and military. With studies of bionics, robotics, cybernetics and biomedical engineering, there will come a time in the near future that these artworks can be of reality.
