Photography Asia: Temple Of Heaven
We present to you another photography showcase in our Photography Asia series with some interesting photos from the Temple Of Heaven in Beijing, China.
Literally called the Altar of Heaven, the Temple of Heaven is one of the most popular monuments in China constructed from 1406 to 1420 by the Yongle Emperor who is also responsible for the construction of the Forbidden City. The temple complex consists of different Taoist structures and buildings and the Temple of Heaven is a significant structure in Chinese history specifically the place for ceremonies on reigning monarchs. The complex was also visited by the Emperors for celebrations and ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest.
